A few historical facts will be twisted when Taita rugby players from the 1970's have their reunion...

Some of the great names of Taita rugby will feature at a June reunion of players from the 1970s.
The Taita Rugby Football Club in Lower  Hutt is long forgotten by all but club rugby diehards but in its day, it was the pride of Taita.
Based at Fraser Park, Taita played in maroon and white, and had close ties with the Taita Cricket Club.
Alan Harington was a loose forward for the Taita Rugby Football Club in the 1970s.

Two stalwarts of the club from the 1970s, Alan Harrington and Phil Schofer, are behind the reunion.

The membership of both Taita Rugby Football Club and the Naenae Old Boys Rugby Football club in the adjoining suburb of Naenae agreed to a merger in 1979. A compromise name of Avalon was decided on and the new club commenced playing in 1980. The Avalon suburb adjoins both Naenae and Taita. The new playing strip was sky blue with maroon shorts.
